Sad to say that Duncan had his known people everywhere but nowhere he had his homeland. In the game he plays the role of mentor to the characters of the player. She says “Earn your place and you shall not be reviled.” She was even asked of becoming the new enchanter from the Ferelden, but she refused. She said that there is no desire to her of becoming such or to work in high ranks. When such message reaches to King Cailen, she volunteered of going to Ostagar.

Though not as evil as the birds... damnable feathered fiends!" "Well, if it gets eaten by the Archdemon, when it is pooped out, irony would dictate that it shall land on me." "DEATH TO ALL PIGEONS!!" Wynne: I suppose I should be flattered. Oghren: I'm not sure I have the equipment for that, but sure, whatever gets you working.
Sandal "Enchantment!"

Born into a time where his country was under the boot of a foreign tyrant, Loghain Mac Tir and his close friend Maric Theirin drove out the occupying forces of the Orlesian Empire. He is more a symbol than a man, representing the Fereldan ideals of hard work and independence. Now with his friend's death, he is left to defend the land with the naive and inexperienced King Cailan Theirin, who is married to Loghain's daughter Anora. Loghain is the Teyrn of Gwaren.
Loghain is voiced by Simon Templeman
Loghain was born a "Freeman". He and his family were farmers until the Orlesian Emperor forced them from their land with higher taxes. The Emperor declared a new tribute tax that applied to all of Ferelden's Freemen. Loghain's father, Gareth, refused to pay the tax collectors, and as a result the farm hold was declared forfeit and Loghain’s father was arrested for tax evasion. The family resisted and, as a result, Loghain and his father were forced to watch soldiers rape and kill his mother. From that point forward they lived on the run in the Fereldan wilds, banding together with other desperate Fereldans to eke out a living however they could.
While living with the outlaws, he met Maric and subsequently joined the rebel army. He became one of Maric's closest friends and a key military advisor of the rebel cause, with his strategies responsible for many of the rebel’s greatest victories. He was rewarded for his contribution to the rebel cause by being made a teryn.
He also fell in love with Rowan, who was betrothed to Maric. After Maric had fallen in love with Katriel Rowan and Loghain formed a romantic relationship. It was short lived however, as Loghain revealed to Maric that Katriel was a spy, which resulted in Katriel’s death. After this, Loghain encouraged Rowan to marry Maric to help him become a better king and because he felt Ferelden needed her as a queen. With Maric and Rowan married, his friendship with them grew strained he rarely spent time with them again.

Wynne (pronounced "win") is a Spirit Healer from the Circle of Magi, focusing her magic on the ability to briefly summon protective and restorative spirits from the Fade. She is a possible companion to the Player Character.
Wynne is voiced by Susan Boyd Joyce.
She has served the Circle for most of her life, and is well respected for her strong sense of duty and morals. She believes wholeheartedly in what the Circle stands for, and has been a vocal advocate in the College of Enchanters, that through discipline, and education, mages can learn to control their gifts and use them to serve mankind.
The fear of magic is born of misunderstanding, but Wynne cautions mages never to forget that the fear is also a real one. For all the good that a mage's gifts can bring, it will also always attract demons and bring the risk of possession. Too many times in history have possessed abominations wreaked destruction on the lands, and thus every mage has a debt to repay. "Earn your place," she has said, "and you shall not be reviled."
Her peers thought so highly of her that she was asked to become the new First Enchanter of Ferelden's Tower. She refused, saying that she had no desire to work in the upper ranks of the Circle. When word recently reached the Tower of King Cailan's call to arms against The Blight, Wynne readily volunteered to go to Ostagar.

Alistair was recruited by Duncan, leader of Ferelden's Grey Wardens, less than six months before the current Blight began. Alistair's mother died long ago in childbirth, and after being raised in Redcliffe Castle he was turned over to the Chantry for religious instruction. He began the martial training necessary to become a templar, the Chantry's military order that watches over the Circle of Magi and hunts down dangerous apostates.
He was found to be ill-suited to a life of religious devotion, however. Alistair is irreverent at the best of times, and his wry sense of humor often put him at odds with his more serious-minded teachers. When Duncan found him, Alistair had not yet taken his vows and was desperately unhappy. During a tourney held to honor the Grey Wardens, Duncan decided to recruit him. Although Alistair was not the most skilled fighter, Duncan admired his character above the other templars present. Sensing that he had a good and loyal heart, Duncan used the Right of Conscription to force the Chantry to hand Alistair over to the Grey Wardens. Alistair has not looked back since.

Chantry History - Part 1: The Imperium in Flames
“The First Blight devastated the Tevinter Imperium. Not only had the darkspawn ravaged the countryside, but Tevinter citizens also had to face the fact that their own gods had turned against them. Dumat, the Old God once known as the Dragon of Silence, had risen to silence the world, and despite the people’s frenzied pleas for help the other Old Gods did nothing. The people of the Imperium began to question their faith, punishing their gods for not assisting them by murdering priests and burning temples.
